Early Life & Career
Rupal Patel was born on 1 January 1975 (age 45 years in 2020) in a lower-middle-class family in Mumbai. Rupal was very fond of acting since childhood. After completing her schooling, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in B.Com from the University of Mumbai.
But due to her passion for acting, she obtained an acting degree from Delhi’s National School of Drama. After earning a degree in acting, Rupal made her move towards theatre and then she worked in several Gujarati plays.
After some time Rupal left the theatre and wanted to work in the film industry. She later made her Bollywood debut from the 1985’s Hindi movie “Mehak“, but unfortunately the film did not show anything special.
Then after keeping herself away from acting for a few years, she appeared in a Hindi movie called Antarnaad (1991). This movie was also similar to her first movie at the box office. Despite the failure in films, she continued to work in many films including Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda (1992), Papeeha (1993), Mammo (1994), Samar (1999).
Now, after trying his luck in films, in 2001, she got a chance to work in Star Plus’ drama serial “Shagun“, where she played the role of “Lakhi“. Because of this serial, she got recognition in the television industry.
In 2002, she again got a chance to work in the Gujarati industry. Where she played Aashalata Sheth in the Gujarati serial Sau Dada Sasuna. But even from here, she did not get anything special.
Now, as if her life was repeating, she again made a cameo role in a 2004 Hindi movie Jaago. Now this movie also did not do much at the box office. She also acted in movies Pehchaan: The Face of Truth (2005) and Sambar Salsa (2007) (as Art Director).
Even after such a struggle in acting, Rupal did not get the fame in any industry for which she was entitled. But still, she did not give up and choose acting as her career.
Then in 2010, she played the role of a strict mother-in-law in Star Plus’s Gujarati themed drama serial Saath Nibhaana Saathiya and her name in this serial was Kokilaben Modi.
Now you must have known that this is the serial where Rupal Patel got her stardom. This serial can also be called the turning point of her acting career. Saath Nibhaana Saathiya serial rocked the television world for 7 years and was the top-rated serial of 2010.
Rupal’s character Kokilaben was so loved by the people in this serial that she continued to work in this serial for 7 years. After this serial became a super hit, Rupal was seen doing Zee TV’s drama series Manmohini (2019) but the show only got an average rating.
Today Rupal is playing the role of Meenakshi Rajvansh in Star Plus’s second superhit serial Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke (2019-Present) and for this role she got a lot of love from the people. She worked in several superhit drama serials in her career.
