Biography – Early Life and Career
Bansuri Swaraj was born on 03 January 1984 in a traditional Hindu family in Delhi, India. Her surname is Kaushal and her caste is Brahmin. Her family is originally from Punjab, a state of India.
Since childhood, due to her attachment to the book and two members (her parents) of her household being lawyers, she has decided to make her career in the law field.
After completing her graduation from Oxford University, England, she earned a degree in barristers from Inner Temple, which is one of the four Inns of Court (professional associations for barristers and judges) in London.
Bansuri had been practising law in India since 2007. She mainly handles civil, criminal, commercial, tax and constitutional related matters. She is affiliated with Legasis Partners (Institute – Independent Law Firm, Law firm in India) and also serves as their advisor.
She practices in the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India as a criminal lawyer. She has also worked for many multinational corporations, individuals and corporate entities.

Family – Husband and Relatives
Bansuri Swaraj is from a well-known Hindu-Brahmin family. Her father Swaraj Kaushal was the youngest advocate general at the age of 37. He was the Governor of Mizoram from 1990 to 1993. Today, he is a senior advocate of the High Court of India and was also a member of the Parliament from 1998 to 2004.
Her mother Sushma Swaraj who served as India’s foreign minister in the first Narendra Modi government (2014-2019). She was the second woman to hold office after Indira Gandhi.
Her aunt Vandana Sharma is an Associate Professor of Political Science at a government college for girls in Haryana. Her uncle Dr Gulshan Sharma is an Ayurveda doctor based in Ambala.
Her uncle Pradeep Kaushal works as the special correspondent of The Indian Express in Delhi and her maternal grandfather is Hardev Sharma and grandmother Smt. Lakshmi Devi.

Let us tell you that Bansuri attracted media attention when it was revealed that Sushma Swaraj’s daughter Bansuri Swaraj was in the legal team of former IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi.
